Old Fashion Shrimp Pasta Salad From Dar

8 oz. Pasta Noodles
16 Oz. Small Shrimp
2 Roma Tomatoes-cut and seeded
1 Small Cucumber-diced and seeded
Black Olives-sliced
Red Onion or Scallion-diced
Shredded Cheese-fine
(Cheddar or Parmesean)
Mix these together in a bowl

Making you Dressing-
1 Cup Mayo or Miracle Whip
1/2 Cup Sour Cream
2 tsp. Lemon Juice
2 Tbls. Dijon Mustard
3 tsp. Dried Dill Weed
seasoned Salt
Mix dressimg ingredients
Pour as needed over salad


Mother’s Old Fashion 5 Cup Salad

2 Cans Mandarin Oranges
2 Cans Pineapple (tidbits)
1 Cup Coconut(shredded)
2 Cups Miniature Marshmellows
1/2 Cup Walnuts (chopped)
1/2 Pint Sour Cream

Drain fruit
Mix everything together
Place in refrigerator for
several hours or overnight.

Old Fashion Apple Crisp

Place into a buttered 8×8 pan:

3 Cups apples sliced thin
sprinkle with 1/2 cup sugar and some cinnamon

Cream together in a bowl:

3/4 Cup sugar
6 Tbsp butterApplecrisp
1 egg

Then add: 3/4 cup flour
pinch of salt

Beat together then spread over apples so it
almost covers them.
Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes or more
for a light brown top crust.

Passed down thru friends and family, this
is enjoyed by itself or with whipped cream
cool whip or ice cream.

Mom’s Cream Sauce

This is a really good over cut up fresh fruit.

11/2 Pint Thick Cream

1/3 Cup Sugar

1/3 Cup Milk

1/2 tsp. Vanilla

Mix Cream and Milk

Beat until fluffy.

Add Sugar andVanilla

Um,Um Good!




Mom’s Orange Sauce

This is so good.

3   Egg Whites

1   Oranges  (juice and rind)

1   Cup  Powdered Sugar

1   Lemon (juice)

Beat the egg whites until fluffy

Add the sugar &fruit juice

Beat well  together

Serve on top of cake  or other dessert.


Aunt Eleanor’s Waffles

2 Cups Flour

1/2 tsp. Salt

2 tsp. Baking Powder

1 tsp Baking Soda

3 Eggs

2 Cups milk

6 Tbsp melted butter

Mix dry ingredients together

Add all the other ingredients except

6 Tbsp. butter.

Brush  melted butter onto waffle iron

Fill with ingredients already mixed

Cook until lighted brown and then remove

These are so good and filling!!!!

(May be served with ice cream, cool whip

and any kind of fruit)




Old Fashion Pancakes

2-1/3 Cup Flour

5 tsp. Baking Powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1-2 Tbsp. Sugar

2 Cups Milk

2 Eggs-beaten

Mix dry ingredients together

then add all other ingredients and mix

Place some butter in slightly heated pan

let butter melt and add enough mixture to make

a 3 to 4 inch pancake 

the size of you pan

Cook pancake until bubbles show on 3/4  of pancake

turnover and cook until lightly browned.

Enjoy with maple syrup,or other toppings.

Mother,s Strawberry Salad Pops

10 oz. Pkg Frozen Strawberries-thawed

1/2 Cup Miracle Whip Salad Dressing

1 Cup  Whipped Cream

2 Cups Kraft Small Marshmallows

(white or colored)

8    5-oz. drinking cups     or

8″ Square  pan

Mix all together.

Spoon approximately 1/2 cup

mixture into each of 8- 5 oz paper drinking cups

Insert wooden sticks into cup mixture

Place in freezer until firm or

(You may  pour into 8″ Square pan

then freeze until firm

Makes 8 servings.

Something good and  cold in the heat of the summer!

My Mothers Old Fashion Cocoa (Hot Chocolate)

4 Tbsp. Sugar

4 Tbsp. Cocoa

1/8 tsp. Salt

1/3 Cup water

2-1/2 Cup Milk

Mix Sugar, Cocoa,  and  Salt in a saucepan

Add water and cocoa mixture ,boil 3 minutes

Stirring gently -add Milk to cocoa mixture

Place over low heat.

Beat with a rotary beater

Serve hot or cold.

Good on those cold days.

Warms you up -inside and out !!



Bread Dough

This is a recipe from 40 yrs. ago from Eden.

1  Cup Hot Water

6 Tbsp. Shortening

6 Tbsp. Dry Milk

1 pk. Dry Yeast

Dissolve the ingredients above using

the cup of Hot Water.

Add :

1 Cup Cold Water

4 Tbsp. Sugar

1 Tbsp. Salt.

1 Egg

5-1/2 Cups Flour.

Mix altogether.

Form into shapes.

Cook in oven 325 for  3/4 to 1 hr. until

lightly brown.

This bread was really good.
